Cluny Exports Agribusiness Specialists has focused its’ sheep exports on the The Dorper, Van Rooy and Damara breeds. The meat these sheep produce is as healthy as goat meat (see PowerPoints presentation in Resources section). These hardy sheep have changed the face of Australian agriculture due to their toughness and adaptability to a variety of climatic zones. These sheep are hair and not wool sheep and shed most if not all of their coats as weather becomes warmer.

These low maintenance sheep are ideal for tropical Asia and the Middle East and are a dual product animal. Their meat is high in unsaturated fatty acids (Omega 3 and 6) and is some of the healthiest meat that can be eaten. The skins produced are high quality glove leather and are also used for seat covering in luxury automobiles.
Carcass yields are higher than the Boer Goats and daily weight gains are also superior. A healthy Dorper or crossbred for example will weigh at 100 days about 40kgs.
Dorper, Van Rooy and Damara genetics in Australia are as good as any country in the world and originate from South Africa. Their strong impact has seen many farmers of traditional sheep turn to these amazing meat sheep for profit and their ability to withstand tough conditions. For more information on these amazing sheep and meat analysis please see our PowerPoint presentations and White Paper downloads at the end of the website under Resources.
